Samuel Gregg is the Friedrich Hayek Chair in Economics and Economic History at the American Institute for Economic Research. He has a D.Phil. in moral philosophy and political economy from Oxford University, and an M.A. in political philosophy from the University of Melbourne.

In this lecture, “Rethinking Market Liberalism in a Dirigiste Age,” Professor Samuel Gregg will examine the dimming fate of market liberalism in our current dirigiste age. He highlights the increase of state intervention in the form of industrial policy, tariffs, expansions of the welfare state, and re-nationalization of industries.  Professor Gregg argues that, if market liberals want to shift the climate of opinion, they must attach their economic proposals to broader arguments that go beyond economics.
