The 2012 Duke Summer Institute on the History of Economic Thought will take place on the campus of Duke University from June 10 – 22. We have assembled an award-winning cast of distinguished scholars who will lecture and lead discussions on their areas of expertise.
Marcel Boumans (University of Amsterdam) on the history of econometrics
Bruce Caldwell (Duke) on Hayek and the Austrian Tradition
Wade Hands (University of Puget Sound) on the history of methodology and of demand theory
Kevin Hoover (Duke) on the history of macroeconomics
Robert Leonard (University of Quebec at Montreal) on von Neumann, Morgenstern and the development of game theory
Malcolm Rutherford (University of Victoria) on the American Institutionalists
Craufurd Goodwin (Duke University)

A detailed program for the two week Summer Institute is now available under "Program." Applications were due on March 2; applicants will be notified by the end of March. Successful candidates will be provided with free on-campus housing as well as an award of $2000 to cover expenses. Readings for the Summer Institute will be mailed in advance to those who are attending.Other planned activities include opening and closing dinners, a night of baseball at the Durham Bulls Stadium, and a visit to the Economists’ Papers Project archival collection.
