2013 NEH Summer Institute Begins June 2

The HOPE Center was pleased to host another NEH Summer Institute, one of a series of summer programs sponsored by the National Endowment for the Humanities.

The 2013 Institute began on June 2 and concluded on June 21. During that three-week period, twenty-five professors and graduate students gathered at Duke University to hear lectures on the history of economics and engage with leading historians of economics about important issues in the subject.

The Institute, which reflects the Center's committment to promoting the teaching of the history of economics, hopes to encourage and prepare faculty and graduate students to teach history of economics courses or to add history to existing courses. Several participants in previous Summer Institutes have gone on to introduce history-of-economics courses at their home institutions.

More on this year's NEH Summer Institute, including links to the program and a list of participants, can be found on the Center's Summer Institute homepage.

This year's Institute was the second NEH Summer Institute the Center has hosted and the fourth Institute overall.
