"The Economist as Public Intellectual" will examine how economists in the USA and the UK have taken up the role of public intellectual during the twentieth century, who address the public with analysis or deliberation over questions of political or cultural concern. The organizers are Tiago Mata (Duke University and, beginning in the spring of 2012, Cambridge University) and Steve Medema (University of Colorado Denver).
