David Skarbek, an associate professor of political science at Brown University, will give a Hayek Lecture on Thursday, August 27, at 6:00 PM.
The lecture, titled "The Puzzle of Prison Order: Why Life behind Bars Varies around the World?," will be online only.
Professor Skarbek is a leading authority on prisons and especially on how inmates create order behind bars. He is the author of The Social Order of the Underworld: How Prison Gangs Govern the American Penal System (Oxford University Press, 2014). He latest book, The Puzzle of Prison Order: Why Life behind Bars Varies around the World, will appear later this year from Oxford University Press.
From 2010 to 2012, he was Searle Visiting Assistant Professor in Political Science at Duke University.
