Jonathan Anomaly, assistant professor of philosophy at the University of San Diego, will deliver a Hayek Lecture on Monday, April 15, at 4:30 p.m. in 130 Social Psychology on Duke's West Campus.
The title of the lecture is "Editing Embryos: Private Choices and Public Goods."
Professor Anomaly writes about issues at the intersection of ethics, economics, and biology. His current research focuses on the moral dimensions of synthetic biology, including gene editing, and the use of phage viruses to combat antibiotic-resistant bacteria. He recently co-edited Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (Oxford University Press, 2015) and is currently helping to design the University of San Diego's new Philosophy, Politics, and Economics program.
The lecture is free and open to the public.
The Hayek Lecture Series is made possible by a donation from the Thomas W. Smith Foundation and is sponsored by the HOPE Center and the Duke Philosophy, Politics, and Economics program.
