Travel and Accommodations Getting to Duke University Duke University is located in Durham, North Carolina, in the central part of the state and is served by Interstates 40 and 85. The local airport is RDU. There are direct flights to RDU from London and, starting in May 2016, from Paris. The only reasonable way to get from the airport to any point in Durham is by cab. (There is a regional bus service, Go Triangle, but it is inconvenient, and there is no light rail system.) A cab ride will cost around $40. It is customary to tip the driver; $5 will do. Some area hotels may have shuttle service to the airport as well. Accommodations Conferees are urged to make their hotel reservations as soon as possible. As you will read just below, there are only two options that are within easy walking distance of the Fuqua School of Business, the site of the conference meetings. Primary Lodging Options There are only two lodging options that are within easy walking distance of the Fuqua School of Business, the site of the conference meetings: the Washington Duke Inn and the dormitories on West Campus. Consequently, a block of fifty rooms has been reserved at the Washington Duke Inn, and a block of rooms has been reserved in Edens Residence Hall, one of the West Campus dormitories. :: Washington Duke Inn The Washington Duke Inn is a luxury hotel located at 3001 Cameron Boulevard, about a 10-minute walk from the Fuqua School of Business. The rooms are $194 a night plus tax. Rooms are being held for the conference until Tuesday, May 17, 2016, so please reserve your room before then. When you make your reservation, please provide the group code, which is 504536. Please note that the Washington Duke Inn is not within walking distance of any of Durham's commercial or entertainment districts. :: Edens Residence Hall A block of rooms has been reserved in Edens Residence Hall, about a 15-minute walk from the Fuqua School of Business. We expect the dorm rooms to be around $50 a night, plus a one-time fee of $45 for linens. We also expect that dorm rooms can be booked as part of the registration process (when that process becomes available). In any case, precise Information about reserving a room and the cost will be provided when it becomes available. Please note that Edens is not within walking distance of any of Durham's commercial or entertainment districts. Other Lodging Options Close to Duke There are four hotels that are somewhat conveniently located: the Hilton Garden Inn, the Residence Inn Marriott, the University Inn, and the Brookwood Inn. Please note that we have not reserved blocks of rooms at any of these hotels, so the sooner you make your reservation, the better. :: Hilton Garden Inn The Hilton Garden Inn is located at 2102 West Main Street. It is about a 30-minute walk from Fuqua. Rooms are around $180 a night, plus tax. The hotel has a free shuttle to Duke that runs every half hour. Guests can also walk 15 minutes to the East Camput bus stop and take a campus bus to West Campus, from which point Fuqua is a 15-minute walk away. The Hilton Garden Inn is a 5-minute walk from Ninth Street, where several restaurants and bars are located. :: Residence Inn Marriott The Residence Inn Marriott is located at 1108 West Main Street. Rooms are around $185 a night, plus tax. Guests can walk 10 minutes to the East Campus bus stop and take a campus bus to West Campus, from which point Fuqua is a 15-minute walk away. The Residence Inn Marriott is a 10-minute walk from Ninth Street in one direction, where several restaurants and bars are located, and a 15-minute walk from downtown in the other direction, with several restaurants and bars along the way and in downtown itself. :: The University Inn The University Inn is a budget hotel located at 502 Elf Street, basically across the street from the Duke Medical Center. Rooms are around $85 a night, plus tax. The University Inn is a 25-minute walk from the Fuqua School of Business, the site of the conference meetings. It is a 15-minute walk from a small commercial and entertainment district on Erwin Road. :: The Brookwood Inn The Brookwood Inn is a budget hotel located at 2306 Elba Street, basically across the street from the Duke Medical Center. Rooms are around $100 a night, plus tax, if you call and ask for the Duke rate. The Brookwood Inn is a 25-minute walk from the Fuqua School of Business, the site of the conference meetings. It is a 15-minute walk from a small commercial and entertainment district on Erwin Road.
